Chris Bent

Chris Bent is
a designer/illustrator, artist and University Lecturer living
in Leicester, a city situated in the middle of the United Kingdom.
His working life has always been involved with design in one form or
another. Chris worked for many years in the television industry,
providing animated graphics for programs as well as on-screen
station branding and identity for both the BBC and ITV. More
recently he has run his own business working as a freelance designer
/ illustrator.
When not involved with commercial projects he enjoys painting and
has exhibited in one man and joint exhibitions throughout the UK. He
likes the satisfaction and liberation he feels from hands-on work
with paint and brushes in contrast to his design work done on the
computer.
Chris is passionate about design and art in general and takes great
pleasure in developing the talents of young, aspiring designers at
De Montfort University where he is a part time lecturer.
“As a grandparent with three granddaughters I was very pleased to be
asked to provide the illustrations for Rebecca’s story about the
inventive little dog Pushkin and his quest for a cleaner planet. The
plastic bag issue is very much in focus in the UK and the message of
the story is an important one for us all.
“The challenge for me was to capture the character of Pushkin and
Bosley and to make them accessible to as wide an audience as
possible. It was important, I felt, to keep the treatments as simple
and colourful as possible. I hope that readers will enjoy the book
and take it’s message to heart.”
